David "Bonzo" Carter: Drums

The story of Expungo really began back in 1997 when David Gregory and Nic Gills started Naked Chicken. The two wrote numerous songs and recorded a few times but never really got rolling until Fritz Kern joined them in 1998. With the addition of Kern and bassist Wyatt Knox Expungo was born. At the time Fritz took care of all lead vocal duties, except for a brief period when Kameron Aroom held the position......(Briefly). Around the summer of 1999 David's younger brother Matt joined the band as the new lead vocalist and Fritz Kern switched over to guitar. Wyatt Knox left the band around this time to focus on his band Wonder Muffin(eventually Fuzzy Pumper), with Dave Gregg.

The band began a period of lineup stabalization with addition of Matt. Well, the rythym section still managed to continue evolving. In the Spring of 2000 drummer Nic Gills was out and David Bonzo Carter took over. The name changed to Estranged with this new development.  They stayed this way until the band broke off from Carter and recruited bassist(actually he is an accomplished guitarist, but, played bass for them) Justin Klein and drummer Greg Strang. A live recording was actually taken from a show with this incarnation but the cover is from the previous one. This lineup stayed put until the end of the summer of 2001. The lineup eventually fizzled out because of schduling and the distance from the band and Justin and Greg made it hard to keep.(physical distance). The boys got back together with David Carter and recruited Anthony Kirtland(Last Act) on bass. This was probably the most stable lineup of all, lasting until they parted ways with Fritz in 2002. For a brief time in the fall of 2002 the band used session drummer Kevin Kiley (Badnotes) before returning with David Carter. This lineup feels good and there are hopes that the momentum is kept up. A new recording is in the works for the future as well as the shows.
